Finally, Summer is just around the corner.
We are all excited about the summer being around the corner! Patio drinks, beaches, swimming pools, gardening and more. But I'm sure we can all agree that the creepy crawlies and flying bugs aren't part of the excitement of summer. I hate spiders, centipedes and pretty much any insect or bug, but thanks to essential oils, I have found a way to keep them at bay.
I love the fact that using essential oils will get rid of bugs, and that the oils are non-toxic, making it safe for my family and friends.
So, where do you start? What essential oils do I use?
Here are my top 4 essential oils that work as a pesticide/insecticide:
Peppermint Oil: Spiders, Ants, Aphids, Beetles, Flies, Lice, Moths and Squash Bugs. Even Mice and Rats.
Tea Tree Oil: Ants, Centipedes, Millipedes, Flies, Mosquitoes.
Patchouli Oil: Bed Bugs, Ants, Fleas, Lice, Gnats, Snails, Weevils and Aphids.
Sandalwood Oil: Weevils, Aphids and Mosquitoes.
Making a bug spray is easy. The more essential oil you incorporate, the more potent the repellent. Here is a great recipe for it:
1) Fill 8 oz. spray bottle half way with distilled water
2) Add witch hazel to almost the top of the bottle; leaving room for the essential oils in step 3.
