Valentine’s Day is around the corner and maybe you need some help to make this Valentine’s Day with your beloved ultra-romantic.
Using essential oils for romance and passion dates back to ancient Rome and Egypt. Cleopatra is known to have used essential oils, in particular, rose water, to seduce Mark Antony. There is much to be said for using essential oils to invoke romance and seduction.
Some essential oils are known to increase libido and enhance performance for both men and women. Why is that? There is a part of the brain called the olfactory lobe that is part of the limbic system which is also the same area that produces sexual desires. When specific odors are inhaled, they effect sexual arousal.
Not all essential oils work for romance and desire. Read on, we break down the best ones for you.
Dim the lights, put on a “do not disturb” sign on the door and get ready for the best night of your life …. Or at least the best Valentine’s Day of your life!
Some great aphrodisiacs to consider are:
Ylang Ylang: This oil is one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs, increasing energy, reducing inhibitions thereby promoting sexual experimentation and intensifying eroticism to help get men and women in the mood. It is also known to promote attraction. You only need a few drops as it is a strong essential oil. Sometimes, less is more.
Sandalwood: Like Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood is one of the most potent natural aphrodisiacs increasing sexual response and libido. Many use sandalwood oil to enhance feelings of connection with their partner. In addition, the use of sandalwood oil will slow your respiration, calm your emotions, and help you shift into a peaceful state of mind by clearing negativity, healing the body and mind and restoring tranquility.
Vanilla: Administration of vanilla essential oil to men suffering from impotence, erectile dysfunction, frigidity, or loss of libido can help substantially. This oil stimulates certain hormones like testosterone and estrogen which help bring about normal sexual behavior promoting sexual arousal. Great oil for both men and women
Patchouli: A well-known aphrodisiac. Mix with a carrier oil (i.e. Argan or Grape Seed oil) for a romantic massage.
Jasmine: Increases energy levels and heightens the mood. Jasmine is helpful for men because it can be used quite reliably as a natural means of addressing many common performance issues.
Ginger: Ginger oil is a deep and warm scent. It creates feelings of comfort and has been known to actually make lovemaking last longer and be more passionate.
We also carry a special aphrodisiac blend which is a combination of many oils known to arouse sexual desire.
Wondering the best way to use these oils?
We would recommend a sensual massage. Make sure you mix your essential oil with that of a carrier oil as some oils can be potent.
Have a romantic bubble bath by adding a few drops to your water.
Add about 10 drops to your diffuser and let the scent infuse your senses.
