Courtney McKenna Bio

B.A Physical Education and Kinesiology, 200 Hour RYT, Reiki Certification Level 1

Courtney is a certified yoga teacher and a level one reiki practitioner.  After moving to Western Canada nearly 10 years ago, she discovered yoga in a local studio in Regina, Saskatchewan and has been practicing ever since. Her love of yoga grew as she moved to Edmonton, Alberta and then back to Toronto, Ontario finally settling in the small town of Paris, Ontario. She was always able to feel at home in the yoga studio, regardless of which city she was living in.  After returning to Ontario in 2012, she decided to deepen her practice by becoming a certified teacher and went to Costa Rica for one month intensive training to complete her Hatha 200 RYT and is now a member of Canadian Yoga Alliance.  She also completed her Reiki Level One in 2013 and is very interested in expanding her knowledge of energy healing. The most important aspect of yoga for Courtney is breath awareness and mindfulness. She believes yoga is not about having the perfect handstand but connecting with your body and mind and listening to your breath throughout your practice.

Outside of the yoga studio Courtney is a newlywed and enjoys hiking with her husband Chauncey and their labradoodle Hunter. She is an equestrian and has two beautiful horses that she loves spending time with; Stanley and Chuck. She is an avid traveler and has been lucky to spend time in Australia, Peru, Europe and several states in the US and almost every province in Canada. Next on her travel list is to see more of South America. She is looking forward to building a yoga community in Brantford and she can’t wait to introduce her love of yoga to new students in her beginner classes.
